About Me
My name is Ed Newman and I am from Bricktown, NJ. I got my start in online marketing in 1979 by selling my own software for the Commodore VIC-20 and Radio Shack TRS-80 on BBS systems. This software was sold on cassette tape! A BBS was an online Bulletin Board System where you could post and chat. You connected via dial up. All text based. No pictures and rarely any color. I wish I had started a list back then! I then went on to run a few offline computer businesses including hard drive repair, computer repair, and computer consulting. These businesses basically got killed by the big box stores and I was pretty much making a full time living by answering tech support questions online at justanswer.com (JA). I decided I could just do this at home w/o all the expenses of maintaining a store.
I left A1 Computers in April 2011 to do JustAnswer full time. It is a great fulltime business but has no passive part. You have to answer questions to get paid. In 2012 JA took the Mac category away from me which was a very good for answering iPad, iPod, iPhone, and computer questions. They would absolutely provide no details why they did that. They just referred me to a 50 plus page terms of service and said I violated it but would not tell me specifically what or even give me a change to fix whatever was wrong. I had great feedback in the Mac category. Others had different and even multiple categories taken away from them with no reason either. I felt this was no way to treat their experts. I got scared that if they did this in other categories I could wake up one day and just be out of business. In October 2012 I decided to get back into Internet Marketing. I had been partly involved in it along the way becoming an ebay powerseller and having a great business reaching over 20,000 in feedback selling used computer parts. I even used pre google adwords when it was overture and you could buy clicks for pennies. Again I still failed to create a list while doing any of this.
I tried to get into affiliate marketing but had little success. I started doing mini events to build a list to market to and ended up having others pay me to mail SOLO ad traffic to their events. I ended up accidentally building a very successful SOLO Ad business. Ed Newman’s SOLO Ads. After listening to Marc Milburn I have decided to build a product based business and have started his coaching program. This blog will be about my adventure in this new territory. Since I already built and am still running a profitable online business I know it’s possible, a big hurdle to most people. I tend to be lazy so need someone to kick me when I am not doing anything and having this program I feel will hold me accountable. I will post in the main blog how things are going.
