Are you losing T1 clicks in Quality Click Control or Click Maximizer?
Both Quality Click Control (QCC) and Click Maximizer (CMAX) allow you to filter clicks by country and send specific country clicks to a main link and other somewhere else. The main purpose of this is to filter Tier 1 (T1) clicks that are required by many for certain offers like CPA. The filtering is done by IP address. Every IP block is tied to a certain country. What most people don’t realize is that this list is updated weekly and if you haven’t updated your list since you installed the mention tracker programs then you are most likely losing clicks. I was losing about 10% T1 clicks with those clicks coming from countries with no country code. Updating the file fixed the problem. Don’t think you need to update weekly but at least monthly would probably be sufficient.
How to update your IP to country list.
In order to use the lite (free) version of the database let me first publish their required statement.
This product includes GeoLite data created by MaxMind, available from http://www.maxmind.com
The specific file you need to download is http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/geoip/database/GeoLiteCountry/GeoIP.dat.gz
Download it to your computer, clicks save, then click save as, and pick a location you know where it is.
Then goto cpanel for your hosting and goto file manager.
If you are updating QCC then browse to the geoip folder in the folder you installed QCC. This will vary based on your host and if this is the primary domain or a secondary domain.
If you are updating CMAX then browse to the the folder you installed CMAX. This will vary based on your host and if this is the primary domain or a secondary domain. You should see a file called GeoIP.dat. Click the file and then click the rename icon at the top and rename it to GeoIPOLD.dat
Now click the upload icon at the top. Click choose file and browse to the GeoIP.dat.gz file you download in a previous step. Then when it is done, click Back to ….
If you are doing this update for a second or more time then choose the option to overwrite the existing file.
You should now see a GeoIP.dat.gz file. Click it then click the extract icon at the top of the screen.
That’s it. You have now updated your tracker to the most current GeoIP database.
